Second Albert the Pug book released worldwide
A peculiar noise echoing through the walls of a cold castle wakes up a sleepy little black pug.
Just who is causing the freeky shrieky sound? A monster, witch, ghoul or ghost? The petrified pug knows there is only one thing to do - search for the spook who is haunting the castle.
The Albert the Pug books follow the adventures of a little mischievous black pug.
Albert the Pug and the Haunted Castle is the second installment of the popular illustrated series.
Based on a real-life adventurous black pug called Albert, Haunted Castle follows the dog as he overcomes his fear and imagination to find out what is scaring him.
Written and illustrated by journalist and experienced father Garry Cook, the rhyming stories are aimed at children aged between three and eight who are developing their reading skills.
The amusing rhymes will keep children enthralled while the pace of the story fluctuates.
Cook, from Lancashire, said: “I started writing stories about Albert to entertain my son. I chose to write about Albert because he was a dog with an amazing personality. Pugs are bred as lapdogs and would spend their entire lives sat on your knee if you allowed them to.
“But Albert was adventurous. He liked exploring and loved long walks. I would often take him up Darwen Tower or to the beach at Formby – and even up mountains in the Lake District - and Albert would always be leading the way.
“While my son enjoyed the stories his love of drawing led me to illustrate them. After that, Teddy and his friends could not get enough of them.
“So, rather than pass around a stapled book of rough drawings I decided to publish the book so it can sit on bookshelves alongside all the other brilliant illustrated books children love to read.
“Now the book is being sold around the world and I find it is bought by as many pug owners as parents.”
The 64-page, A4-size book includes large, colourful hand-painted illustrations to captivate youngsters.
Ideal for bedtime reading, the positive stories explore themes such as fear, confidence and honesty and aim to help children’s emotional and interactive development.
The Albert the Pug series are available from Amazon. A digital version is available on Kindle with an iPad version planned for later in the year.
